The SGS 33410 is a solid carbide roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built with three flutes and a coarse pitch chipbreaker geometry, it breaks chips into smaller segments to reduce heat buildup and cutting forces during heavy cuts. The 0.03 inch corner radius adds edge strength and helps prevent chipping at the cutting tip. With a 2.5 inch length of cut and 5 inch overall length, the 33410 suits deep-pocket and slotting operations where reach and rigidity both matter. Solid carbide construction delivers the stiffness and wear resistance required for production milling on harder workpiece materials. This tool is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in job shop and production environments.
The 33410 is suited for roughing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials where chip control and feed rate matter. Its single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand spiral flute configuration make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The bright uncoated finish makes it a practical choice for general-purpose roughing where a specific coating is not required. Typical applications include pocket milling, slotting, and peripheral roughing in aerospace, automotive, and general machining work. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard end mill holders and collet chucks.
Designed as a standard straight-shank roughing end mill compatible with conventional end mill holders, collet chucks, and hydraulic chucks accepting a 0.5 inch shank diameter. The h6 shank tolerance ensures consistent runout in precision toolholding systems.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured to the manufacturer-specified clamping torque for the holder type in use before beginning any operation. Verify shank engagement depth meets the toolholder manufacturer minimum before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and sensitive to improper handling or excessive runout.
