The SGS 33409 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precise milling operations where a controlled edge radius and high wear resistance are required. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut (LOC), and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in demanding materials. With three flutes and a 38-degree helix angle, the 33409 is built for right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry. Licensed HVAC techs and machinists in production and job-shop environments rely on this geometry for contouring, slotting, and profiling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
The SGS 33409 is suited for milling operations in general machining, tool-and-die, and precision fabrication environments. The coarse pitch and spiral flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation during side milling and pocket operations. The bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for materials where coated tools may cause adhesion or where re-sharpening is anticipated. The 0.5 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, allowing use in standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders with 0.5 inch bore capacity.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide corner radius end mill for standard 0.5 inch bore end mill holders, collet chucks, and hydraulic toolholding systems used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 0.5 inch shank to the recommended minimum engagement depth specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating to confirm concentricity before beginning a cut.
