The SGS 33122 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations requiring extra long reach. With a 0.1875-inch (3/16-inch) diameter and a 1.125-inch length of cut, this tool handles demanding contouring, profiling, and slotting tasks in deep-cavity and hard-to-reach workpiece areas. The 4-flute configuration in a right-hand spiral with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a smooth cutting action. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for consistent performance in production environments. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this type of end mill.
This end mill is suited for milling a broad range of materials including carbon steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by its primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The extra long length type makes it appropriate for deep-pocket milling, sculpted surface finishing, and multi-axis CNC applications where standard-length tools cannot reach. It is a single-end design, meaning the cutting geometry is on one end only. The variable index feature aids in reducing harmonic vibration during cutting passes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option in the SGS Series 1ELB family of extra long ball end mills. Compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills using standard 3/16-inch collets or tool holders.
This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators using a compatible collet, shrink-fit, or hydraulic tool holder rated for a 3/16-inch shank diameter. Always verify shank runout and tool holder cleanliness before seating the tool. Confirm spindle speed and feed rates are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut before engaging the tool. Do not exceed the rated length of cut when programming axial depth of cut parameters.
