The SGS 33104 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of materials. With a 0.25 inch mill diameter, 1.125 inch length of cut, and 3 inch overall length, this single-end tool delivers consistent performance in long-reach applications. The 4-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle and variable index spacing reduces harmonics and chatter during cutting passes. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for demanding work in steel, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous, and high-temp alloy applications. The uncoated finish suits applications where coating adhesion or contamination is a concern.
The SGS 33104 is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills in job shop, tool-and-die, aerospace, and general metalworking environments. Its long series length makes it appropriate for slotting, profiling, and contouring operations where standard-length tools cannot reach. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard. The Series 1LB designation places this tool in SGS's long ball end mill family, intended for cuts requiring extended reach without sacrificing rigidity at this diameter.
Designed for use with standard 0.25 inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S indicate suitability for hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temp alloys as specified in the supplier data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the holder and torque retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades surface finish on carbide end mills.
