The SGS 32788 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. The 32788 features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter with a 0.06-inch corner radius and three right-hand spiral flutes in a coarse pitch configuration. Overall length is 6 inches with a 3/4-inch length of cut and a 3-3/8-inch reach length, making it well suited for extended-reach operations. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention needed for consistent cuts in aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. This is a single-end, straight-cylindrical shank tool rated for roughing-class material removal.
The 32788 belongs to the SGS Series 43LC family and is configured as a short-length, extended-reach roughing end mill. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where non-ferrous metals are the primary workpiece material. The high-helix, right-hand cutting geometry promotes chip evacuation in aluminum and other gummy materials. The 5/8-inch shank diameter is compatible with standard end mill toolholders and collet chucks of the same bore size. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant is applied externally at the toolholder.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 5/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal. Part of the SGS Series 43LC end mill line.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth before tightening. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before starting a cut, as excessive runout accelerates corner radius wear. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling in accordance with applicable machine safety procedures.
