The SGS 32727 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. Built to Series 43L specifications, it features a 0.25-inch cutting diameter, a 0.375-inch length of cut, and a 38-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers the hardness and edge retention needed for consistent performance in aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. A titanium diboride (TiB2) coating further reduces friction and built-up edge at the cutting zone. With a 4-inch overall length and 0.75-inch reach length, this is a long-series tool suited for deeper-reach applications where a standard-length end mill falls short. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, aerospace, and precision manufacturing will find this tool well matched to tight-tolerance work.
This end mill is intended for milling non-ferrous metals, designated by material code N. The long-series geometry and extended reach make it appropriate for slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations where reach beyond the standard is required. The 3-flute configuration balances chip clearance with core strength at this diameter, making it a practical choice for both roughing and finishing passes in aluminum and similar alloys. Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or tool-change state. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the holder bore before tightening to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque range using a calibrated torque wrench. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use; carbide is brittle and a damaged edge can fracture under load. Confirm runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and degrades surface finish.
