The SGS 32573 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and five helical flutes with a high helix angle of 45 degrees. The cutting edge measures 1 inch in length of cut, with an overall length of 2.5 inches. An AlTiN coating — marketed under SGS's Ti-NAMITE-A designation — provides heat and wear resistance in demanding cutting environments. The variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter during roughing and finishing passes. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. This tool is part of the SGS Series 55CR family.
The SGS 32573 is suited for machining operations on ferrous metals and difficult-to-machine alloys, including hardened materials. Its combined roughing and finishing capability makes it appropriate for shops running precision profiling, slotting, and contouring work on CNC machining centers. The 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank is designed for use with standard end mill holders. Single-end configuration and normal pitch classify this as a general-purpose tool across a range of shop environments from job shops to production floors.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as specified by SGS material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer's guidelines. Secure the shank in a compatible end mill holder to the recommended pull-out retention specification for your holder style. Verify spindle runout before operation, as excess runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling. Do not exceed the tool's rated cutting parameters; consult the SGS Series 55CR speed and feed tables for the specific workpiece material.
