The SGS 32422 is a solid carbide tapered ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining applications. It features a 3-degree taper angle per side, a 5/32-inch small end diameter, and a 1-3/4-inch length of cut, making it well suited for contoured surfaces, deep-cavity profiling, and finish milling in hard-to-reach areas. The ball end geometry allows smooth interpolation along curved and sloped surfaces. With three flutes and a 28-degree helix angle, this tool balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality. It is centercutting, enabling plunge entry where required. Machinists and CNC programmers working in production or job-shop environments will find this tool appropriate for fine detail work in a range of workpiece materials.
This end mill is used in vertical machining centers and CNC milling operations where tapered profiles, mold cavities, or contoured part features are required. The Series 24B geometry is suited for milling hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, aluminum alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is commonly installed in tool holders compatible with a 3/8-inch shank diameter, such as collet chucks or end mill holders, and is applied in both roughing and finishing passes on complex 3D geometries.

This tool should be installed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Use a calibrated torque wrench on the tool holder drawbar or collet nut per the machine manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the shank and cutting end with a dial indicator before cutting to protect tolerances given the shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001 to -0.0004 inches.
