The SGS 32309 is a solid carbide tapered end mill designed for precision milling operations requiring a controlled taper profile. It features a 5-degree taper per side, a 1/8 inch small end diameter, and a 3-flute spiral geometry with a 28-degree helix angle. The square end configuration makes it well suited for finishing floors and walls in tapered pockets, mold cavities, and contoured features. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide and finished bright/uncoated, it delivers rigidity and edge retention in demanding cutting applications. The 1/4 inch shank mounts in standard collet chucks or end mill holders used in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC milling and machining center applications where tapered wall geometry is required, such as die and mold work, contoured pocket finishing, and draft-angle feature cutting. The primary workpiece material codes indicate suitability for cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), nonferrous metals (N), steel (P), and high-temperature alloys (S), as well as hardened materials (H). It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into workpieces. Typical users include CNC machinists, tool and die makers, and precision machining shops.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 1/4 inch shank end mill. Suitable for workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S per SGS Series 23 classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked before inserting or removing the end mill. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification to prevent tool pullout. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on small-diameter carbide tooling.
