The SGS 32303 is a solid carbide tapered end mill designed for precision milling applications requiring a controlled taper profile. It features a 1.5-degree angle per side, a small end diameter of 0.125 inches, and a 1.5-inch length of cut. The three-flute, right-hand spiral geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. With a micrograin carbide construction and bright uncoated finish, this tool is built for dimensional stability and wear resistance in demanding cutting environments. It is center-cutting capable, allowing plunge entry. This tool is part of SGS Series 23 and carries a 1/4-inch shank diameter with a 3-inch overall length.
The SGS 32303 is suited for milling tapered slots, draft angles, and contoured features in a wide range of workpiece materials, including cast irons, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and steel. The 28-degree helix angle and three-flute design make it appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes in CNC machining centers. It is commonly used in tool and die, aerospace component, and precision part manufacturing where accurate taper geometry is required.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/4-inch straight shank. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated by the manufacturer, covering cast iron, non-ferrous, stainless, high-temp alloys, steel, and hardened materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 1/4-inch shank fully into a clean, matching collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify taper runout with a dial indicator before cutting to confirm proper seating and minimize tool deflection.
