The SGS 31922 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining applications. With a 0.375 inch diameter and a 1.75 inch length of cut, this extra-long reach tool is built for deep-cavity and contour milling where standard-length tools cannot reach. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration promotes chip evacuation and surface finish quality. A TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The micrograin carbide substrate supports edge sharpness and resistance to chipping under continuous cutting loads.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and similar materials as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The 4.0 inch overall length and single-end configuration make it practical for setups requiring extended reach into pockets, slots, or profiled surfaces. The variable index flute spacing helps reduce harmonic vibration during cuts. It is intended for use by machinists and tooling professionals working in production, job shop, and maintenance machining environments.
Compatible with workpiece materials classified under codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, which include steels, stainless steels, cast irons, nonferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and similar materials. Designed as part of the SGS Series 1ELB extra-long ball end mill line.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists following shop safety protocols with the machine powered down and locked out. Seat the 0.375 inch shank securely in a compatible collet or end mill holder, verifying runout before initiating a cut. Do not exceed tool manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for the workpiece material and coating type. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use.
