The SGS 31825 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a range of metallic and non-metallic workpiece materials. It features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 2-1/2 inch overall length. The two-flute geometry and 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) finish improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the toughness and edge retention required for consistent performance in production and maintenance environments. This end mill is installed and used by machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance professionals working with vertical or horizontal milling machines and machining centers.
The SGS 31825 is suited for slotting, profiling, and plunge-cutting operations. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry into a workpiece without pre-drilling. The straight cylindrical shank and right-hand cut with right-hand flute configuration make it compatible with standard ER and straight-bore collet systems. The long-series (Series 3L) designation provides additional reach for deeper features or applications where standard-length tooling cannot access the cut. Primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S indicate suitability across hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, general steels, and heat-resistant superalloys.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the collet or tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank; proper runout is critical for tool life and surface finish. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and machine setup. Verify clamping torque on the collet nut using the tool holder manufacturer specifications before beginning a cut.
