The SGS 31802 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide stock, this 2-flute tool measures 0.25 inches in diameter with a 1.125-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating improves surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge. The 30-degree spiral helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting forces. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry are standard. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production environments, and tool rooms.
The SGS 31802 is suited for milling operations on a broad material spectrum including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and titanium alloys. Its long-series length classification provides extended reach for deeper pocketing, slotting, and profiling work where standard-length tools cannot reach. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly into standard collets and end mill holders compatible with 0.25-inch bore sizes. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry into the workpiece when required by the operation.
Designed for use in standard 0.25-inch bore collets, shrink-fit holders, and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Suitable for workpiece materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous materials, plain carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys.
This tool is installed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or tool-change state before loading or removing the end mill. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the holder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cutting, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and compromises surface finish.
