The SGS 31425 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials. With a 7/32-inch (0.2188-inch) cutting diameter and four spiral flutes, this tool delivers sharp, clean cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, cast materials, and high-temperature alloys. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Built from micrograin solid carbide, the 31425 offers the rigidity and edge retention that machinists require in demanding production and job-shop environments. It is a centercutting design, allowing both plunge and ramp entry moves without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
This end mill is suited for milling slots, pockets, profiles, and contours on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Its stub-length classification and 1/2-inch length of cut make it appropriate for applications requiring maximum rigidity with minimal overhang. The straight-cylindrical, 1/4-inch shank fits standard collets and end mill holders found on compact and mid-size machining centers. It performs across material groups including steels, hardened materials, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, non-metals, and superalloys as indicated by SGS material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S.
The SGS 31425 is an SGS Series 14 square end mill compatible with 1/4-inch collets and end mill holders on CNC machining centers, manual mills, and similar machine tools where a straight-cylindrical shank is accepted.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked before mounting or removing the end mill. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the machine tool manufacturer's specification. Verify runout at the cutting edge before initiating a cut, as excessive runout reduces tool life and surface finish quality.
