The SGS 31411 is a double-end, four-flute square end mill ground from solid micrograin carbide. It carries a 7/64 inch (0.1094 inch) cutting diameter with a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) length of cut and a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action across a broad range of workpiece materials. At 1-1/2 inches overall length, this stub-length tool is well suited to close-tolerance milling operations where overhang and deflection must be kept to a minimum. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for applications where coating chemistry is not required or where regrinding is anticipated.
This end mill is rated for use across multiple material categories, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The double-end configuration doubles available cutting edges per tool, reducing per-edge tooling cost in production or job-shop environments. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and side milling on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a small-diameter, short-reach tool is required.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for workpiece materials in categories H, K, M, N, P, and S per SGS Series 14 classification, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, general steel, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using an appropriate collet or end mill holder sized for a 1/8 inch shank. Verify that the holder is clean and free of debris before seating the tool, and torque the collet nut to the holder manufacturer's specification. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Observe all applicable shop safety protocols, including guarding and personal protective equipment, when operating rotating cutting tools.
