The SGS 31405 is a double-end, four-flute square end mill ground from micrograin solid carbide. It carries a 1/16 inch (0.0625 inch) cutting diameter and a 1/8 inch length of cut, making it suited to fine-detail slotting, profiling, and contouring work in tight geometries. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Overall length is 1-1/2 inches, shank diameter is 1/8 inch, and the bright uncoated finish keeps the surface geometry consistent for applications where coating thickness would affect dimensional accuracy. Installation is performed by qualified machinists and CNC setup technicians.
This stub-length end mill is designed for milling operations that require a short, rigid tool profile to minimize deflection at small diameters. The double-end configuration delivers two usable cutting ends per tool, extending service life. Workpiece material compatibility codes H, K, M, N, P, and S indicate suitability across a range of material groups including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and similar materials. Typical applications include precision slot milling, step milling, and light profiling passes on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill for CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with standard 1/8 inch collets and end mill holders.
This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder matched to the 1/8 inch shank diameter to prevent runout. Verify tool projection and stick-out before running the first cut, as excessive overhang beyond the rated length of cut will increase deflection and risk tool breakage at this diameter.
