The SGS 31367 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 0.4375-inch (7/16 inch) mill diameter, a 0.625-inch length of cut, and a 2.5-inch overall length, making it a stub-length tool suited for rigid setups where deflection control matters. The two-flute configuration with a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix promotes efficient chip evacuation. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting environments. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers hardness and edge retention across demanding materials. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals across multiple material categories, including cast iron, aluminum alloys, stainless steel, heat-resistant superalloys, and steel. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry are standard for conventional CNC milling setups. The stub length format provides added stability in shallow-depth applications where chatter and tool runout are concerns. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard ER and side-lock toolholders commonly found in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
The SGS 31367 is compatible with workpiece materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, heat-resistant alloys, steel, and titanium. It fits standard straight cylindrical toolholders accepting a 0.4375-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder secured before inserting or removing the end mill. Confirm shank runout with a dial indicator before cutting to stay within the shank diameter tolerance of +0.00000 / -0.00035 inches. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting cutting parameters.
