The SGS 31366 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 0.375 inch cutting diameter, a 0.625 inch length of cut, and a 2-inch overall length in a stub configuration. The AlTiN coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance, making this tool well-suited for demanding cutting conditions. Manufactured from micrograin carbide, it delivers edge retention and dimensional accuracy. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual milling setups.
The SGS 31366 is intended for use in milling applications involving a broad range of workpiece materials. Its material compatibility codes cover cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, and high-temperature alloys. The stub length profile makes it appropriate for setups requiring reduced overhang and improved rigidity. It is commonly used in production machining, toolroom work, and prototype work where tight tolerances and repeatable performance are required.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, non-metallic materials, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys. Fits standard 3/8 inch collets and end mill holders.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or quill is secured before mounting or removing the end mill. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder that matches the 0.375 inch shank diameter and confirm runout before cutting. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the specific workpiece material.
