The SGS 31241 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 5/32 inch (0.1563 inch) cutting diameter with a 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle. The four-flute geometry combined with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating delivers extended tool life and improved surface finishes when cutting ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The micrograin carbide substrate provides rigidity and wear resistance suited to demanding production environments. This stub-length end mill is single-end, right-hand cutting, and right-hand flute, with a straight-cylindrical 3/16 inch shank. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production settings.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in materials spanning cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon steel, heat-resistant alloys, and composite materials, corresponding to workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The stub length profile and 0.3125 inch length of cut make it well suited to rigid setups requiring minimal tool overhang, reducing deflection and improving dimensional accuracy in slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. Its variable index geometry helps reduce chatter during cut.
Compatible with workpiece materials classified under codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon steel, heat-resistant superalloys, and composite materials. Part of the SGS Series 16 stub-length end mill line.
This end mill is installed by machinists or CNC operators using a precision collet, end mill holder, or equivalent toolholder rated for the 3/16 inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer recommended clamping torque. Confirm spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cutting specification before initiating the cut.
