The SGS 31219 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. Built on the Series 14B platform, it features a 0.0469-inch (3/64-inch) ball diameter and a four-flute configuration with a 30-degree right-hand spiral helix. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life when cutting harder and more abrasive materials. With a stub-length profile and double-end design, this end mill is suited for tight-tolerance finishing and contouring passes where rigidity and accuracy are critical. Micrograin carbide substrate supports the fine edge geometry required at this diameter.
This end mill is used in CNC milling operations across job shops, tool rooms, and production machining cells. It is appropriate for milling ferrous and non-ferrous materials including steel alloys, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The 0.0469-inch diameter and 0.0938-inch length of cut make it especially well-suited for small-feature detail work, engraving, and 3D profiling on dies, molds, and precision components.
Compatible with materials classified under workpiece codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering steel alloys, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, aluminum, and high-temperature alloys. Fits standard 1/8-inch collets and tool holders.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per facility safety procedures. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 1/8-inch shank diameter and verify runout before production use. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool data sheets for appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the specific workpiece material. At sub-1/16-inch diameters, tool deflection and breakage risk increase significantly — use conservative entry strategies and avoid side-loading beyond recommended limits.
