The SGS 31177 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding industrial and toolroom applications. Built to Series 14 specifications, it features a 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) cutting diameter, a 5/16 inch length of cut, and a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank with a 2 inch overall length. The double-end configuration with a 4-flute spiral geometry and AlTiN coating makes it suitable for high-speed cutting in a wide range of workpiece materials. Micrograin carbide substrate provides edge retention under elevated heat and cutting forces. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this tooling.

The SGS 31177 is suited for milling operations in materials classified under workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S — covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, and high-temp alloys. Its stub-length classification and rigid 3/16 inch shank make it a practical choice for tight-clearance pockets and contour work on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills alike. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling passes.
