The SGS 31171 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. Built to Series 14 specifications, this stub-length tool features a 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch) cutting diameter, a 3/32 inch length of cut, and a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank. The AlTiN finish provides thermal resistance and extends tool life in high-temperature cutting conditions. Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry. Micrograin carbide construction supports tight tolerances across a wide range of workpiece materials.
This end mill is suited for fine detail milling, slotting, and profiling operations on small-scale features. The stub length and 1-1/2 inch overall length make it well-matched to close-tolerance work in tool rooms, prototype shops, and production machining environments. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, standard steels, and high-temperature alloys. It is packaged individually and sold in single-unit quantities.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, standard steels, and superalloys. Designed for use in standard 1/8 inch collet or chuck systems.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Verify that the spindle, collet, and toolholder are clean and within specification before seating the shank. Confirm rotational direction matches the right-hand cut orientation of this tool before running. Inspect the cutting edges under magnification before each use, as carbide tools at this diameter are susceptible to chipping if mishandled.
