The SGS 30849 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch) diameter with a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) length of cut and a 1-1/2 inch overall length. The three-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN coating adds heat and wear resistance, extending tool life in high-temperature cutting conditions. This is a single-end, straight cylindrical shank tool built from micrograin carbide for edge retention and dimensional consistency. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill for slotting, profiling, and light pocketing operations.
The SGS 30849 is suited for milling a broad range of workpiece materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, aluminum alloys, and high-temperature superalloys — corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its regular-length classification and 1/8 inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard collet systems used in CNC machining centers and manual mills. The Series 5 designation places it within a consistent family of SGS carbide end mills for tool crib standardization.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into a clean, undamaged collet to the recommended gauge line before torquing the collet nut. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use; do not run a damaged carbide end mill.
