The SGS 30819 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank with an overall length of 2 inches. The three-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN finish provides heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. Machined from micrograin carbide stock, this end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers on vertical and horizontal milling machines.
The SGS 30819 is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous materials across multiple workpiece material categories, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its regular-length configuration and small diameter make it well-suited for tight-tolerance finishing passes, slotting, and profiling operations in both production and job-shop environments. The 3/16 inch shank fits standard collets and end mill holders common to benchtop and full-size CNC machining centers.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the SGS Series 5 product line. Designed to seat in standard 3/16 inch collets or end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Secure the shank fully in a collet or end mill holder to the depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer, and verify runout before commencing a cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as micrograin carbide tools can fail suddenly if run on damaged edges. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when setting speeds and feeds.
