The SGS 30812 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding applications. Built to Series 5 standards, it features a 1/32 inch (0.0313 inch) cutting diameter, a 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch) length of cut, and a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The three-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN finish improves heat resistance and extends tool life in abrasive or high-temperature cutting conditions. Licensed HVAC technicians, machinists, and tooling professionals working with tight-tolerance components will find this end mill well suited to fine-detail work.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where small-diameter, high-precision cuts are required. The centercutting geometry allows it to plunge directly into workpiece material. Primary workpiece material codes indicate compatibility with a broad range of materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, low-carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys. The 1-1/2 inch overall length and regular length classification make it appropriate for standard reach applications without extended tooling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling selection for CNC and manual milling operations requiring small-diameter solid carbide end mills with a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped. Use a properly sized collet or tool holder rated for a 1/8 inch shank diameter to ensure concentricity and minimize runout. Inspect the collet and holder for wear or contamination before seating the tool. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool length offsets and cutting parameters.
