The SGS 30780 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 5 standards, it features a 5/32 inch (0.1563 inch) cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The TiCN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. The micrograin carbide substrate supports tight tolerances, with a mill diameter tolerance of -0.001/-0.002 inches. Three spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation in a compact tool profile suited for light-to-medium slotting and profiling work.
This end mill is rated for use across a broad range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous materials, structural steels, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. The regular-length geometry and 2 inch overall length (OAL) make it appropriate for benchtop CNC mills, toolroom mills, and vertical machining centers where clearance is limited. Centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional spindle rotation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-specification solid carbide end mill for CNC and manual milling machines accepting a 3/16 inch straight shank. Suitable for applications involving ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by SGS Series 5 tooling parameters.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder to the recommended grip length before torquing the retention hardware to the machine manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before use, and verify runout with a dial indicator when tolerances are critical.
