The SGS 30563 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length with a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank. The three-flute design and 30-degree spiral helix angle work together to support efficient chip evacuation and consistent surface finish. Micrograin carbide construction delivers the hardness and wear resistance needed for demanding applications. This tool is centercutting, allowing it to plunge directly into the workpiece. It is intended for use by machinists and tool and die professionals in production and job shop settings.
The SGS 30563 is suited for milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, heat-resistant alloys, carbon steel, and titanium, as indicated by primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its regular length classification and straight shank make it a standard fit for vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the conventional setup for standard spindle rotation. This end mill is appropriate for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in both roughing and finishing passes depending on feeds and speeds selected by the operator.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for 1/2 inch straight-shank collets and end mill holders used in vertical machining centers and CNC milling machines. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tool-change procedures for CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the holder manufacturer to avoid tool pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation before beginning any cutting operation.
