The SGS 30551 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in a wide range of milling applications. It features a 13/32 inch (0.4063 inch) cutting diameter and a 1 inch length of cut, making it suitable for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The tool is built from micrograin solid carbide, which provides hardness and wear resistance across demanding cutting conditions. With 3 spiral flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, the 30551 promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the typical installers and operators of this tool.
The SGS 30551 is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills across a broad range of workpiece materials. Its primary workpiece material codes cover H, K, M, N, P, and S classifications, which include hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, general steels, and high-temperature alloys. The 7/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet and end mill holders. This is a regular-length tool intended for general-purpose shop work where a compact, rigid setup is preferred over extended reach configurations.
Compatible with standard collet systems and end mill holders accepting a 7/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining workpiece material types H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and use of this end mill should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify collet or holder runout is within acceptable limits to protect the cutting edges and achieve dimensional accuracy. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling guidelines for appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the workpiece material being machined.
