The SGS 30512 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in a wide range of materials. It features a 0.0938-inch (3/32 inch) cutting diameter with a 0.2813-inch (9/32 inch) length of cut, a 30-degree helix angle, and three right-hand spiral flutes. The micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention needed for consistent performance in harder workpiece materials. This is a single-end, uncoated tool intended for use by machinists and tooling professionals on CNC milling equipment and manual mills where tight tolerances and clean ball-nose profiles are required.
The SGS 30512 is suited for profiling, contouring, slotting, and finish milling in a variety of workpiece materials. Per the manufacturer material codes, it is rated for use in hardened materials (H), cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), nonferrous metals (N), steel (P), and superalloys (S). Its regular-length body and 1/8-inch shank diameter make it a practical fit for small-diameter toolholders and high-speed spindles where precision finishing in tight geometries is needed.
Designed as a standard single-end ball end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/8-inch straight shank toolholder or collet. Compatible with workpiece materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S per the SGS Series 5B material classification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the 1/8-inch shank securely in a matched collet or toolholder and verify runout before beginning a cut, as small-diameter carbide end mills are sensitive to excessive runout and can fracture. Handle carbide tooling carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges during setup. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling supplier recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material.
