The SGS 30472 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in demanding machining environments. With a 0.0313-inch (1/32 inch) mill diameter and a 2-flute spiral geometry, this single-end tool delivers clean cutting action in tight-tolerance applications. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality. An AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life when cutting abrasive or hard materials. The micrograin carbide substrate supports edge integrity at the small diameters where conventional carbide grades are more prone to breakage. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
The SGS 30472 is suited for finish milling, profiling, and contouring operations where small-diameter ball nose geometry is required. The 0.0781-inch length of cut and 1.5-inch overall length position this tool for shallow slot milling, 3D surface work, and detail features in mold and die, aerospace, and medical component machining. The 1/8-inch shank diameter is compatible with standard collet and end mill holder systems. Workpiece material compatibility codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, steel, and superalloys.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the SGS Series 3B classification, covering hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys. Fits standard 1/8-inch collets and end mill holders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before mounting. Confirm collet size matches the 1/8-inch shank before tightening to tool holder manufacturer torque specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting, as small-diameter tools are sensitive to even minor misalignment.
