The SGS 30449 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling operations. Built on SGS Series 3 geometry, it features a 19/64-inch (0.2969 inch) cutting diameter with a 2-flute, right-hand spiral flute configuration and a 30-degree helix angle. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life in demanding cutting environments. At 2-1/2 inches overall length with a 13/16-inch length of cut, this centercutting end mill handles both plunge and peripheral milling. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use it for profiling, slotting, and contouring in a wide range of workpiece materials.
The SGS 30449 is rated for use across multiple primary workpiece material categories including hardened steels (H), cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), non-ferrous metals (N), carbon and alloy steels (P), and high-temperature alloys (S). Its micrograin carbide substrate and AlTiN finish make it especially well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting in high-heat applications. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 5/16 inch in diameter, fitting standard collet and end mill holders in vertical mills, machining centers, and CNC milling setups. Regular-length classification places it in a standard reach category without extended projection.
Designed for use in standard 5/16-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. Compatible with workpiece materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S per SGS material classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Confirm collet or holder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the specified engagement depth. Do not exceed the manufacturer-rated speeds and feeds for the workpiece material being cut.
