The SGS 30382 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling applications. It features a 0.75-inch cutting diameter, a 1.5-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length, making it a regular-length tool suited for general-purpose profiling and slotting. The four-flute configuration paired with a 30-degree spiral helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A micrograin carbide substrate provides the edge retention and rigidity required for demanding cuts. The AlTiN coating adds thermal resistance and reduces built-up edge during high-speed or dry machining operations. This end mill is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
The SGS 30382 is suited for milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials, including cast irons, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and general steels, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The variable index design reduces harmonic chatter during full-slot and peripheral milling passes. The right-hand cut, right-hand flute geometry is the standard orientation for conventional CNC spindle use. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive retention in side-lock holders, making it appropriate for aggressive depth-of-cut applications where pullout is a concern.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the holder and tighten the set screw against the flat to prevent rotational slip. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation and before cutting to confirm proper seating.
