The SGS 30307 is a square-end, single-end solid carbide end mill designed for high-precision milling in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention required for accurate material removal at small diameters. The 30307 has a 1/16 inch (0.0625 inch) mill diameter, a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) length of cut, and a 1-1/2 inch overall length. Its 2-flute, spiral flute geometry supports efficient chip evacuation, and the 30-degree helix angle balances cutting forces across a range of workpiece materials. This tool is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC mills and manual vertical mills.
The SGS 30307 is suited for slot milling, profiling, and pocket milling operations where a small-diameter tool is required. Its right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC setups. The uncoated micrograin carbide construction makes it appropriate for use on cast iron, aluminum, copper alloys, steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It fits a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank, which is common in collet chucks and small-diameter toolholders. This is a regular-length Series 3 tool, appropriate for close-tolerance finishing and light roughing at small feature sizes.
Compatible with workpiece materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, copper alloys, steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. Fits standard 1/8 inch collet chucks and toolholders with a straight-cylindrical shank bore. Part of the SGS Series 3 regular-length end mill line.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists; ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, as runout is especially critical at this diameter. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machining guidelines when operating small-diameter carbide tools, which are brittle and susceptible to breakage under side loading or improper feeds and speeds.
