The SGS 30196 is a 4-flute, single-end square end mill ground from micrograin solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN coating for extended tool life in demanding cutting applications. It carries a 3/32 inch (0.0938 inch) mill diameter with a 9/32 inch (0.2813 inch) length of cut and a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter during cuts. Overall length is 1-1/2 inches. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians use this end mill in CNC machining centers and manual mills for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling in a range of workpiece materials.
This end mill is suited for right-hand cutting operations on materials classified under workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S - covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, and high-temperature alloys. Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry. The regular-length profile and 3/32 inch diameter make it well matched to fine-detail work, small-bore slots, and tight-tolerance features where tool deflection must be minimized. It is sold individually and intended for production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in standard 1/8 inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by SGS Series 1 tooling guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC or manual milling setup procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling supplier feeds-and-speeds guidelines for the specific workpiece material and depth of cut.
