The SGS 30178 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations across a range of metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.125 inch cutting diameter and a 0.375 inch length of cut, this four-flute tool delivers smooth, consistent material removal in contoured and profiled surfaces. The SGS 30178 is intended for use in profiling, slotting, and contouring operations on a broad range of workpiece materials. Its primary material compatibility codes cover cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, aluminum, steel alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys. With a 0.125 inch shank diameter and 1.5 inch overall length, this regular-length single-end tool fits standard collet systems and is well-suited to tight-tolerance finish milling and die work in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with standard 1/8 inch collet systems on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Compatible workpiece material categories include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, aluminum alloys, steel, and heat-resistant superalloys as indicated by primary material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S.
This end mill is installed and changed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom procedures. Secure the shank fully within the collet to the recommended engagement depth and verify runout before cutting. Power down and lock out the spindle before any tool change. Cutting parameters including speed, feed, and depth of cut should be selected based on workpiece material, machine rigidity, and toolholder condition — do not exceed the tool geometry limits for radial or axial engagement.
