The SGS 30151 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and composite materials. It features a 13/32-inch (0.4063-inch) cutting diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 7/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank. With 4 flutes and a 30-degree spiral helix angle, the 30151 delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes in a wide range of profiling, slotting, and contouring operations. Micrograin carbide construction provides hardness and wear resistance suited to demanding production environments. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working on vertical or horizontal machining centers.
The SGS 30151 is intended for use in standard-reach milling applications across a broad spectrum of workpiece materials. The primary workpiece material codes designated for this tool are H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering categories such as hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys. With a regular-length profile and 2-3/4-inch overall length, it fits standard tool holders and collet chucks without special reach requirements. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC mill spindle rotation.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills accepting a 7/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems sized for 7/16-inch shank diameters. Suitable for workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S per the SGS Series 1 classification.
Install and torque the end mill holder or collet nut according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications before starting the spindle. Inspect the shank and collet bore for chips or contamination before seating the tool, as debris will affect runout and tool life. Ensure spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. This tool should be handled and installed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC machine tool operation and applicable shop safety procedures.
