The SGS 30137 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling operations across a range of metalworking and machining applications. It features a 19/64 inch (0.2969 inch) cutting diameter, a 13/16 inch (0.8125 inch) length of cut, and four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle. The micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding cutting conditions. This is a single-end, center-cutting tool with a straight cylindrical shank, making it suitable for plunge cutting as well as standard peripheral milling. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers and users of this tool in CNC and manual milling setups.
The SGS 30137 is suited for milling applications in materials classified under workpiece codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, which correspond to hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, general steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. The regular length designation and 2.5 inch overall length make it appropriate for standard-depth pockets, slots, and contour cuts in both production shop and job-shop environments. The bright uncoated finish is typical for general-purpose use where a specific coating is not required by the application.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore milling chucks, collet holders, and shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 5/16 inch shank diameter. Compatible with workpiece materials in SGS primary material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists using CNC machining centers or manual knee mills with appropriate collet or chuck systems. Ensure the tool holder is clean and the shank is fully seated and properly torqued before beginning a cut. Verify spindle speed and feed rate parameters match the workpiece material and tool diameter before engaging the cut. Never exceed the rated length of cut, and inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use.
