The SGS 30136 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of complex contoured surfaces, 3D profiles, and radii. It features a 0.2813 inch cutting diameter and a 0.75 inch length of cut, with a 4-flute configuration that promotes efficient chip evacuation and a smoother surface finish. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers the hardness and wear resistance required for high-speed cutting in demanding applications. A 30-degree helix angle reduces cutting forces and helps maintain stability during profiling passes. Variable index spacing minimizes chatter, which is critical when holding tight tolerances on contoured workpiece geometry. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, production, and toolroom environments.
The SGS 30136 is suited for finish milling, semi-finish milling, and profiling passes on a range of workpiece materials. The Series 1B design targets a broad material application range, appropriate for use on cast irons, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, heat-resistant superalloys, and other machinable materials corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The 5/16 inch shank diameter fits standard ER and end mill holders commonly found on vertical machining centers and CNC routers. The uncoated finish makes it a straightforward option where coating is not required by the application or where regrinding is anticipated.
Designed for use in standard 5/16 inch end mill holders or ER collet chucks on CNC vertical machining centers and similar equipment. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the SGS Series 1B specification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as runout beyond the shank diameter tolerance of +0.00000 to -0.00035 inches will accelerate tool wear and degrade surface finish. Follow machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for the holder type in use.
