The SGS 30120 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precise contouring, profiling, and 3D milling operations on CNC and manual machining centers. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention required in demanding material removal applications. The 0.1563 inch (5/32 inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 0.5 inch length of cut and a 2.0 inch overall length, making it well-suited for detailed work in confined geometries. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Four flutes provide increased feed rates and a finer surface finish compared to two-flute designs. The variable index geometry helps reduce chatter during high-speed passes.
This end mill is appropriate for machining a broad range of workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel alloys, heat-resistant alloys, and other machinable materials corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand spiral tool intended for professional machinists in job shops, aerospace, medical device, and general precision machining environments. The uncoated finish suits applications where post-coating or regrinding is preferred, or where coating is not required by the process.
Designed for use in standard CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter collet or toolholder. Suitable for ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder that matches the 3/16 inch shank diameter to maintain runout specifications. Refer to the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer guidelines for appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the target workpiece material.
