The SGS 30118 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. With a 0.1406-inch cutting diameter and a 0.5-inch length of cut, this tool is built for tight-tolerance profiling, contouring, and finishing passes where accuracy is critical. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, the 30118 delivers the rigidity and edge retention required for consistent performance in demanding machining environments. It is a single-end tool with an uncoated finish and a 2-inch overall length.
This ball end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills handling ferrous and non-ferrous materials, hard metals, and specialty alloys. The Series 1B design with variable index geometry reduces harmonic vibration during cuts, making it well-suited for finishing contoured surfaces, 3D profiling, and detail work in mold and die, aerospace, and general metalworking applications. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad spectrum from cast iron and aluminum to stainless steel and high-temperature alloys.
The SGS 30118 is compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon steel, and high-temperature alloys. It fits standard 3/16-inch collets and tool holders used on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, de-energized state. Seat the 3/16-inch shank fully and evenly in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder before torquing to the holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for damage before each use. Do not exceed the tool's rated depth of cut or feed parameters for the workpiece material being machined.
