The SGS 30115 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in a wide range of metalworking applications. This single-end tool features a 0.125-inch mill diameter, a 0.500-inch length of cut, and a 1.500-inch overall length with a 0.125-inch straight cylindrical shank. Constructed from micrograin solid carbide, the 30115 delivers consistent edge integrity and wear resistance at elevated cutting speeds. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable surface finishes. Variable index spacing reduces harmonic chatter during cuts, making this tool well-suited for finishing passes and close-tolerance work.
The SGS 30115 is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills handling ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S indicate suitability across cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, mild steel, and superalloys. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry in addition to conventional peripheral and slot milling. It is commonly selected by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on small-feature details, slots, and contours where a 1/8-inch diameter tool is required.
Designed as a standard Series 1 regular-length square end mill compatible with 1/8-inch collets and ER-style toolholders. Primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S cover cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, general steel, and superalloys as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before changing or seating the tool. Verify collet and toolholder concentricity within acceptable runout limits before engaging the cut, as excessive runout on a 0.125-inch diameter tool accelerates breakage. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut recommendations for the specific workpiece material.
