The SGS 30044 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide with an AlTiN coating, it delivers hardness and heat resistance required for high-speed cutting in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The tool measures 0.2188 inches in diameter with a 0.625-inch length of cut and a 2.5-inch overall length. The 4-flute, variable-index geometry reduces harmonic vibration and chatter during cuts, improving surface finish and tool life. A 30-degree helix angle supports efficient chip evacuation. This is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool intended for use in CNC milling machines and machining centers.
The SGS 30044 is suited for slotting, profiling, and contouring operations across multiple material categories, including steel alloys, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals, as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its regular-length profile and 0.25-inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems commonly found in job shop and production environments. Machinists working with close-tolerance features benefit from the tight mill diameter tolerance of +0.000 to -0.002 inches and a shank diameter tolerance of +0.00000 to -0.00035 inches.
Designed for use with steel alloys, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals (material codes H, K, M, N, P, S). Fits standard 0.25-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the holder according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications before running. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting, especially for tight-tolerance applications. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material being cut.
