The SGS 30040 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 5/32-inch (0.1563-inch) cutting diameter and 4 flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and exotic alloys. A 30-degree helix angle balances cutting forces across the flute length, making this mill well-suited for both roughing and finishing passes. It is a single-end tool manufactured from micrograin solid carbide stock for consistent edge geometry and wear resistance.
This end mill is intended for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines used in precision metalworking environments. It is appropriate for cutting a wide range of workpiece materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by its primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Observe recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type per the manufacturer or machining reference to avoid premature edge wear or tool fracture.
