The SGS 30024 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling across a broad range of workpiece materials. It features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4-inch length of cut, and a 3-1/2-inch overall length with a matching 5/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. The AlTiN finish provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle and variable index geometry promote chip evacuation and reduce chatter. Micrograin carbide construction supports precision tolerances and consistent edge integrity. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
The SGS 30024 is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including alloy steels, cast irons, stainless steels, aluminum, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by its material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole, making it practical for slot milling, pocket milling, and profile operations. The regular-length classification fits standard toolholding setups without requiring extended reach accommodations. This end mill is appropriate for both conventional and climb milling strategies in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Compatible with workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering alloy steels, cast irons, stainless steels, aluminum alloys, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature superalloys. Fits standard 5/8-inch toolholders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit holders with a straight cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Shank diameter tolerance is minus 0.0001 to minus 0.0004 inches, so verify holder bore condition and cleanliness before seating. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer recommendations for speeds, feeds, and coolant application based on the specific workpiece material being cut.
