The SGS 30016 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling applications. It features a 13/32 inch (0.4062 inch) cutting diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 7/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration combined with an AlTiN finish delivers heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. The 30-degree helix angle and variable index geometry improve chip evacuation and reduce chatter. Overall length is 2-3/4 inches. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments.
The SGS 30016 is suited for milling a broad range of workpiece materials. The primary workpiece material codes cover hardened steels (H), cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), non-ferrous metals (N), carbon and alloy steels (P), and high-temperature superalloys (S). The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Its regular length profile fits standard tool holders and collets used in vertical machining centers, CNC knee mills, and manual milling machines.
Compatible with workpiece material types coded H, K, M, N, P, and S per SGS Series 1 classification. The 7/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER collets, set-screw holders, and shrink-fit tooling configured for that shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Verify that the collet or tool holder bore matches the 7/16 inch shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable limits before engaging the cut. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds based on workpiece material and depth of cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use and do not regrind beyond the manufacturers recommended parameters.
