The SGS 07301 is a solid carbide circuit board drill bit engineered for precision drilling in printed circuit boards and other tight-tolerance applications. Ground to a wire size 71 diameter of 0.026 inches (0.66 mm), this bit features a 130-degree four-facet point that reduces walking and improves entry accuracy on hard, abrasive, and layered materials. The uncoated solid carbide construction delivers rigidity and wear resistance well beyond high-speed steel alternatives. With a 1.5-inch overall length and a 0.125-inch (1/8 inch) straight shank, the bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC spindles used in circuit board fabrication and precision machining setups. Cutting direction is right-hand with a regular spiral and a 30-degree helix angle. Intended for use by machinists, electronics fabricators, and skilled trade professionals working with close-tolerance materials.
This drill bit is suited for drilling through a wide range of materials including aluminum, cast iron, copper alloy, cobalt alloy, nickel, stainless steel, titanium, plastics, and fiber-reinforced polymers. The four-facet point geometry and tapered web configuration make it particularly effective in fiber-reinforced polymer circuit board substrates where conventional drill geometry tends to delaminate or tear. Applications include PCB through-hole drilling, precision fixture drilling, and prototype fabrication where hole location accuracy and clean entry are critical.
Designed for use in standard 1/8-inch collet or chuck systems on CNC drilling machines, drill presses, and PCB drilling equipment where wire-gauge diameter bits are specified.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or electronics fabrication technicians familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Solid carbide bits are brittle and require rigid setups with minimal runout to avoid breakage - confirm spindle and chuck runout is within tolerance before use. Always power down and secure the machine before changing bits. Feed rate and spindle speed should be set according to the workpiece material; consult machining data references for recommended surface footage for carbide tooling in the target material.
