The SGS 07297 is a solid carbide circuit board drill bit engineered for precision drilling in printed circuit board fabrication and other tight-tolerance applications. The bit measures 0.85 mm (0.0335 inches) in diameter with a 1/8-inch (3.18 mm) shank and an overall length of 1.5 inches (38.10 mm). The 130-degree four-facet point geometry reduces walking and produces clean entry holes in dense or layered materials. A regular spiral with a 30-degree helix angle and tapered web construction promotes efficient chip evacuation. The uncoated solid carbide construction offers high hardness and thermal resistance, making this bit suitable for demanding small-diameter work where consistent hole quality is critical. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or PCB fabrication technicians.
This bit is designed for use in CNC drilling machines, PCB drilling equipment, and precision benchtop drill presses where small-diameter, high-accuracy holes are required. Its 0.4-inch (10.16 mm) flute length handles the shallow penetration depths typical of circuit board and thin-stock operations. The two-flute right-hand cut configuration is well suited for production runs on boards and components made from fiber-reinforced polymers, plastics, and non-ferrous metals. It also performs across a broad range of workpiece materials including aluminum, copper alloy, cast iron, stainless steel, cobalt alloy, nickel, and titanium, making it a versatile choice for shops that drill mixed material types.
Designed as a replacement or production-use circuit board drill bit compatible with CNC drilling machines and precision drill presses that accept a 1/8-inch shank. Suitable for drilling aluminum, cast iron, cobalt alloy, copper alloy, fiber-reinforced polymers, nickel, plastics, stainless steel, and titanium workpieces per the manufacturer material application ratings.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists or PCB fabrication technicians using CNC or manual precision drilling equipment. Secure the 1/8-inch shank firmly in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Always power down and de-energize the machine before changing tooling. Do not exceed the recommended spindle speed for the workpiece material and bit diameter, as solid carbide is brittle and sensitive to side loading.
