The SGS 07258 is a solid carbide micro drill bit engineered for very small hole drilling in demanding materials. It carries a wire gauge size of 87, equal to 0.010 inches in decimal diameter, with a four-facet, 118-degree point that centers cleanly and reduces walking on entry. The spiral flute geometry is web-thinned to lower thrust force and improve chip evacuation in deep, narrow bores. Overall length is 1.5 inches with a flute length of 0.15 inches, and the bright, uncoated finish keeps surface dimensions tight to tolerance. This bit is intended for use by machinists, toolmakers, and precision trade technicians working in ferrous and non-ferrous applications.
The SGS 07258 is suited for precision drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It fits into standard 1/8-inch shank collets and chucks, making it compatible with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand-piece spindles used in tool-and-die, aerospace component work, and small-part manufacturing. The 15xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to the maximum flute depth of 0.15 inches. Right-hand cut direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Compatible with any spindle or chuck accepting a 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Micro drill bits in this diameter range require a rigid, runout-free spindle setup to prevent breakage. A licensed machinist or qualified technician should verify chuck concentricity before use. Feed rate and spindle speed must be calculated for the specific workpiece material to avoid bit fracture at this diameter. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; flood or mist cooling applied externally at the entry point is recommended when drilling harder materials.
