Product Description

The SGS 07160 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for very small hole drilling in demanding materials. It carries a wire gauge size of No. 56, equal to 0.0465 inches (1.18 mm) in diameter, and features a 130-degree four-facet point with web thinning for accurate entry and reduced thrust. The AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A) coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life when cutting hard and abrasive workpiece materials. With an overall length of 1.5 inches and a 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is suited for precision drilling operations performed by machinists and tooling professionals.

This micro drill bit is engineered for applications requiring tight tolerances in very small diameter holes. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 0.4000-inch flute length support chip evacuation in deeper cuts relative to bit diameter. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand-held equipment where consistent hole quality is required. The right-hand cut, regular spiral flute geometry makes it compatible with standard spindle rotation. Workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials.

Key Features

  • No. 56 wire size, 0.0465 inches (1.18 mm) diameter for very small hole drilling
  • Solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance
  • AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A) coating for elevated heat and abrasion resistance
  • 130-degree four-facet point with web thinning for accurate, low-thrust entry
  • 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and chucks
  • Right-hand cut, regular spiral flute for efficient chip evacuation

Compatibility

Designed for very small hole drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. Fits standard 1/8-inch collets and drill chucks. Conforms to KSPT ISO standards.

Installation Notes

This bit is installed by machinists or tool operators in standard 1/8-inch collet systems or compatible drill chucks. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are properly secured before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant at the workpiece surface when drilling hard or abrasive materials, as this bit does not support through-coolant. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use, as micro drill bits are sensitive to runout and misalignment.
