The SGS 05001 is a square end mill designed for precision milling operations requiring extremely small cutting diameters. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating, this tool is suited for high-speed machining of hardened steels, stainless alloys, and other demanding materials. The 0.1 mm (0.0039 inch) cutting diameter and 0.0118-inch length of cut make it appropriate for fine detail work, micro-slot milling, and intricate profile cuts. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on precision components install this end mill in CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles where dimensional accuracy and tool rigidity are critical.
This end mill is used in applications where tight tolerances and fine feature geometry are required, such as mold and die making, medical device component machining, electronics, and aerospace part fabrication. The 2-flute configuration supports chip evacuation in shallow, narrow cuts. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3 mm (0.1181 inches) in diameter and an overall length of 38 mm (approximately 1.496 inches), making it compatible with standard ER-style collet chucks and precision tool holders sized for 3 mm shanks. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute direction are standard for conventional CNC milling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use micro end mill for CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles accepting a 3 mm straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in a precision collet or tool holder appropriate for 3 mm shank diameters, and verify runout before commencing cuts. At sub-millimeter cutting diameters, even minor runout or improper clamping can result in immediate tool breakage.
